Here’s a response to an email I sent to Laura Mallory and her gang. What do you think?
Dear Lea,
I would encourage you to read Romans 12:2 & Matt 7:13-14 & Matt 7:21-23 and really ask the Lord how these scriptures relate to you!!!!!!
Please read all the following, the line between fatasy and reality is crossed when reality is effected.
You will be shocked to see the reality of how Harry Potter has effected and influenced this generation.

EFFECTS OF HARRY POTTER
Each occult image and enticing suggestion prompts the audience to feel more at home in the dark, paranormal setting. Children identify with their favorite characters and learn to see wizards and witches from a popular peer perspective rather than from God’s perspective.
Immersed in the values taught at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry, children become spiritually blind. They lose their natural aversion for the devious spirits represented by the creatures and symbols in this eerie world. Caught up in the exciting story, they absorb the suggested values and store the fascinating images in their minds — making the forbidden world of the occult seem normal.
This inner change is usually unconscious, for the occult lessons and impressions tend to bypass rational scrutiny. After all, who will stop, think and weigh the evidence when caught up in such a fast-moving visual adventure? Fun fantasies and strategic entertainment has a special way of altering values, compromising beliefs and changing behavior in adults as well as in children. This learning process has been named “edutainment” — a favored way to train multicultural citizens for the envisioned 21st century community. Its power to influence beliefs and behavior is illustrated by today’s marketing firms which spend billions on entertaining ads that touch emotions, ignore the facts, yet motivate people to buy the product.
The implied source of power behind Harry’s magical feats tends to distort a child’s understanding of God. In the movie as in the books, words traditionally used to refer to occult practices become so familiar that children begin to apply the same terms to God and His promised strength. Many learn to see God as a power source that can be manipulated with the right kind of prayers and rituals — and view his miracles as just another form of magic. They base their understanding of God on their own feelings and wants, not on His revelation of Himself.
Blind to the true nature of God, children will synthesize or blend Biblical truth with the pagan beliefs and magical practices demonstrated in the Harry Potter movie. In the end, you distort and destroy any remnant of true Christian faith.

HARRY POTTER’S FRUIT

In a world filled with darkness and deception, Jesus warns us to be vigilant. He equips us with a means to test all things in Matt 12:33, “for the tree is known by its fruit.” We are to test all things by the fruit that it produces. “Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad.” The following articles and quotes will shed some light on the type of fruit Harry Potter is producing among our children.
The Pagan Federation’s media officer Andy Norfolk states in an article authored by Berit Kjos, ”Although it refuses to admit members under age 18, it deals with an average of 100 inquiries a month from youngsters who want to become witches, and claims it has occasionally been ‘swamped’ with calls.”
This quote by the Pagan Federation’s Andy Norfolk was taken from the newspaper, This Is London, Aug. 4, 1999. It states, “In response to the increased queries coming from youngsters, we established a youth officer, …it is quite probably linked to things like Harry Potter, Sabrina The Teenage Witch and Buffy The Vampire Slayer.”
An article from The Observer, Aug. 14, 2005, states “An Austrian school for witchcraft and wizardry has reported a surge in recruitment since the publication of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. …When the Hexenschule first opened in 2003, the world’s press scoffed, but two years later, it is booming.”
USA Today, Nov. 13,2002, stated ”Hexenschule’s founders freely thank Harry Potter for the surge in attendance. Before the movie came out last year, we had 40 students, Kulmitzer says. Now we have more than double that. We think it is quite funny how the movie benefited us.”
The Religion News Report for July 11, 2000, talking about Paganism and Witchcraft, states, “Kate West heads the Hearth of Hecate, a coven in Norfolk, in the UK. …Now she is writing a handbook for young witches for the post-Harry Potter market, offering step-by-step guidance to becoming a witch. West claims not to have read Harry Potter, probably the real source of the current boom in bewitchment.”
Camp Beaumont, a very large, up-scale summer camp in the U.K., offers a Witches and Wizards Camp to children from the ages of 6-13. This camp is advertised as a Harry Potter-inspired summer school. “The classes include: crystal ball reading, spell casting, …tea leaf reading, memory spells and oath making.” Here is a quote from their website given by children who have attended the camp, “We decided to go to Camp Beaumont School of Witchcraft and Wizardry because we are HUGE fans of Harry Potter. During the week we read the future (divination), …signed an oath.”
This quote is from The Edmonton Journal, Alberta , Canada, Jan. 16, 2006. “Canadian children are about to see one of their greatest fantasies come true: the opening of a real-life Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. …Advertised as an ‘adult version’ of Hogwarts, the Northern Star College of Mystical Studies is now taking applications…” They go on in the article to equate each professor in Northern Star College to each professor in Hogwarts. One of their professors states, ”Harry Potter starts to get everybody curious about the mystic inside of them. …I think it stirs a yearning in people to know more than just the five senses.” I AGREE
This quote is also from The Edmonton Journal, “Lumos 2006, A Harry Potter Symposium this July…This Las Vegas event, which combines a fan convention with an academic conference, is expected to attract 1,200 people, including dozens of professors and educators from international universities.”
These are quotes taken from the website for Lumos 2006, The Harry Potter Symposium. “Following our theme of ‘Back to School’, we are planning a variety of daytime academic presentations and panels, including special workshops for educators and librarians. …Night Classes will give Lumos participants the opportunity to study Potions, Arthimancy, Divination, and much more. Students will attend thirty minute classes in up to six subjects taught at Hogwarts.”
In the San Francisco Chronicle, July 26, 2000, a ten year old Gioia Bishop, writes, ”I was eager to get to Hogwarts first because I like what they learned there and I want to be a witch.“
A book entitled, We Love Harry Potter, We’ll Tell You Why, by Sharon Moore, from beginning to end is full of quotes resembling this, ”I want to learn magic, so I’d like to go to wizard school. I’d like to be able to put voodoo on bullies and enemies.” Sarah-age 9
Here is a statement by Peter Smith, General Secretary of the British Association of Teachers and Lecturers. “…Harry Potter … will lead to a whole new generation of youngsters discovering witchcraft and wizardry…Increasing numbers of children are spending hours alone browsing the internet in search of Satanic websites and we are concerned that nobody is monitoring this growing fascination.”
We need to ask ourselves three questions
1. Do you believe in a real devil?
Do you believe the occult practices listed in Deuteronomy 18 are really dangerous and do they really come from Satan?
How likely is it that the real devil, (Lucifer-Satan) has nothing to do with the worlds fastest selling book on the planet, that are
communicating concepts of witchcraft to kids.

Scriptures Regarding Harry Potter
Here is a quote from, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, on Page 640,
the last paragraph. Harry has been kidnapped by Wormtail, Voldemort’s assistant, and tied to a pole above a grave. Wormtail has a cauldron boiling in front of Harry, there is something in a pile of robes that is moving around and Harry has no idea what it is. The quote is, “The thing Wormtail had been carrying had the shape of a crouched human child…” Wormtail proceeds to drop the “crouched human child” into the boiling cauldron, does a chant, the grave opens up, bone dust comes out and floats into the potion. Wormtail proceeds to cut off his right hand and drop that into the cauldron as well. Finally he approaches Harry, cuts his arm, collects his blood in a vial and adds it to the mix. All the while chanting a spell which calls forth Voldemort.
If that wasn’t disturbing enough here are a few of the other lessons that are taught throughout this book series: crystal ball reading, numerology, palmistry, astrology, divination, curses and charms. These are, in reality, actual occult practices.
The bible is very clear on this subject. Everywhere you find sorcery, witchcraft, or wizardry, it is described as an abomination unto God or has provoked Him to anger. The meaning of abomination is “profoundly evil.” The Lord has warned us about these things for a reason, He knows the damage they will cause
.

I Sam. 15:23 “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft,”
(here witchcraft is clearly labeled a sin)
Exod. 22:18 “You shall not allow a woman to live who practices sorcery.”
Lev. 19:31 “Do not defile yourself by consulting mediums and wizards…
Lev. 20:27 “A medium or wizard whether man or woman – shall surely be
stoned to death. They have caused their own doom.”
Deut. 18: 9-14 “…There shall not be found among you anyone who …uses
divination…sorcery…or is a wizard.
Rev. 21:8 “…those who practice magic arts…their place will be in the
fiery lake of burning sulfur.”
I Cor. 10:21 “You cannot drink from the cup at the Lord’s table and at
Satan’s table, too. You cannot eat bread both at the
Lord’s table and at Satan’s table.
Matt. 7:15-16 Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s
clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will
know them by their fruits.
Psalms 101:2-3 “I will be careful to lead a blameless life – when will you
come to me? I will walk in my house with a blameless
heart. I will set before my eyes no vile thing.”
Matt. 6:22-23 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good,
your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes
are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness.”
Isaiah 5:20 “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put
darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter
for sweet and sweet for bitter.
Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge…”
Prov. 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is
old, he will not stray from it.”
Mark 9:42 “And whoever causes one of these little ones who
acknowledge and cleave to Me to stumble and sin, it
would be better for him if a millstone were hung about
his neck, and he were thrown into the sea.”
Have you ever heard the statement “get them as children and you will have them for life”? That is what is happening here, witchcraft is the fastest growing religion among teenagers today. And it is not only because of HP but it is a huge factor.
Some people say that H.P. is good (white) witchcraft battling bad (dark) witchcraft. I contend that there is no such thing as good witchcraft. And when witchcraft battles witchcraft, who wins witchcraft.
And about The Wizard of Oz, Narnia, and the Lord of the Rings, there is a huge difference between HP and these movies. None of the mentioned movies is the witch the hero, the closest would be Wizard of Oz with the white witch but still the watcher does not long be her and she is not the hero of the movie.
And another difference with HP is that the reader/movie watcher is seeing children in a school setting learning the occult. Actual occult practices, and they are learning the occult right along with Harry. They are made to think that witchcraft if fun, interesting and exciting, something they would like to experience themselves.

And 2 Corinthians 11:14 says …Satan can change himself into an angel of light!

Witchcraft if being taught under Harry Potter – please read the articles Lumos 2006: A Harry Potter Symposium and Camp Beaumont. This is fact and those are only 2 examples.
As for the Constitution they have removed praying, the bible and the Ten Commandments from all the public schools. BUT witchcraft, which is a religion, the Supreme Court has given it tax exempt status and the Army has a chaplain, full access. In fact these books are being read to children, also children are being rewarded and encouraged to read these books.
The bible says that satan is the king of lies and deception and there is not one iota of truth in him. Genesis describes him as more subtle and crafty than any living creature.
Man is the master of the decoy he can get fish to jump out of the water to bite a hook and ducks to fly down from the sky. What makes us think that satan does not use those same tactics on us. The whole essence of a decoy is to look real and seem harmless.
