Is this a she ( or could it
really be a sneaky he?).
MUSCLE-BOUND Karen Freeman has
clubbers in a spin trying to work out if she's a man or a
woman! She keeps everyone guessing when she turns up at gigs anti
clubs all over the country. She
has been setting the dance floors alight by
dirty dancing with pop heart-throb Prince, but is often chatted up by girls as
well the guys. Ive always been into Crosse dressing,
mystery and intrigue, says Karen. I like to keep
people guessing about my sexuality because its to easy to
just flaunt what you've got these days. Karen, who releaser her
debut single Magic Fly next month, is the the daughter of Johnny
Freemas the first black Rugby League player for Halifax.
She left her Yorkshire home at 17 to begin a career as a singer
in London. Karen got her first taste of fame as a backing singer.
with D:Ream on their chart smash Things Can Only Get Better. But
she also learned that the pop music world can be cruel after
designing a series trendy outfits for some of the best-known
faces of pop in Britain. 1 didnt realise its
such dog-eat-dog world out their that I wouldnt even get
paid, she says. It was Karens stints the nightclub
dance floor that finally made her realise she had what it took to
make the big time. She bumped into heartthrob Seal at hip London
club Legends, and for four weeks in a row the couple left
onlookers stunned by their sexy dancing. For four weeks we
danced together but the weird thing was we never actually
spoke, says Karen Magnets
Ive never known anyone like Seal, says Karen
When we danced it was like we were magnets. Its
Seal Ive really got thank for giving me the confidence to
realise that could make it as a pop star I just hope people
will give my single a good listen . I hope they will all realise
all the hardship I had to face to get when am today.
When I lived up North, people used to insult me because I
was black. When I moved to London black people used to insult me
saying I acted like I was a white person. I've had to put up with
this sort of thing all my life.
