I didn’t really care 4 the video either but this was when black music videos were becoming more mainstream by using rotaing cameras and sometimes picture flash mediums not to mention some brief black and white shots! Kool & The Gang’s “Stone Love” and O’Bryan’s “Tenderoni” uses the same mediums as this clip. Ditto for steve Lindwood’s “Higher Love” although hes a rock artist. The medium was poplular from late 1986 up until 1989!
♪ I sort of remember this song on America’s Top 10? ♪ ♫ Also I agree about Steve Winwoods x-over appeal in the late 80′s ♪ ♫

I had thee biggest crush on Jesse Johnson! Loved this song in ’87. He was a major part of “The Time.” It wasn’t just about Morris Day, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Thanx for adding this.
You should hear HBCU bands play this joint!! Its tight! Theres one on youtube rite now (Bethune Cookman College)
I don’t care for the video much but seeing Jesse cut on the solos (from the 12 inch) rememeber iin the 80′s when the Minneapolis bands would put a b- side song not the album and the extended version and radio would play the b- side too. No musican today would could have a b- side as strong as their album side.
what about michael baker he is the one playing the guitar here
ahhh i luv luv luv this song!
I wished that this version was on the album Shockadelica!!! This version ROCKS!! I love Jesse on his guitar, being a former guitarist myself.
Sorry, Mike is not the one playing the solo.
Jesse never really got the props he deserved!!
I like how this songs demonstrates how solid Jesse’s music was.
I think tho that his lyrics/themes needed more depth and/or uniqueness of style in order to push away from Prince’s shadow.
I was always rootin’ for the guy.
…and don’t forget Jellybean Johnson and Jerome benton!
I used to work at this club in boston back in early 1989 called celebration in kenmore square and they would play this song..I loved it…have not heard it in 20 years and typed in the title and up it came..I love you tube..and thank you for posting this….
@spyderj1999 Thank you…People need to have the facts first…That was 100% Jesse
@deeteetwo I feel you ! I was 17 in 1987 and was ready to move to Minneapolis.. lol….I was going to marry Jesse
I love this video. I remember this and I was 8!!
Baddest muthafunka on guitar this side of Prince!!!!
This was early to mid 1987 and I saw this on BET when my brother and I were home due to the chicken pox! LMFAO! Hard being a teenager with chicken pox.
