This is the only guy Prince stated was his equal in playing instruments. If I am not mistaken, he produced all of Jody Wately hits.

  2. shockadelica04 says:

andre n jody got married as well

  3. drunkensilenus says:

anyone know what kind of synthesizer he’s using?

  4. dentistsugardusty says:

well, when I 1st met him he had the OBX down in the basement workin’ on a jam called Too Tough.

    oberheim obx.

  5. drunkensilenus says:

    awesome. thanks.

  6. islandbee says:

Minneapolis produced some amazing talent that stemmed from Prince. Jody Wately was the only act I know that AC had that hit successfully, but Prince produced and wrote songs that were huge for the 80s. IMHO Prince is truly the holder of the key to the City of Minneapolis when comes to music. Nothing against Andre Cymone, but Prince is the best!

oh wow, i had this album 20 +years ago and cant believe its on here..I played this album so much because i was in love with Andre..DAMN!!Thanks for Sharing..

  12. BluntedBeyondBelief says:

i wouldnt really consider andre a “clone”. he is as much of a part of the minneapolis sound as anyone else.

  13. ASFMG2 says:

    he locks like prince :O

  14. chromokosis1 says:

    what about ritz club???

  15. ponaxalldai25 says:

well it would only be natural for him to sound like prince if he played bass for prince in his 1st band…so i dont think it pollitically correct to call him a “clone” when hes been on the music scene as long as prince

  16. blackwizad says:

hey man you forgot ,jimmy jam and terry lewis ,,quaranteed hitmakers,,but prince is really a boss ,i always tell people that,,

  17. islandbee says:

@blackwizad Oh yah. Jam and Lewis are a big part of that Minneapolis sound. But it comes down to Prince being the most influential. Mad props to Jam and Lewis though. They are legends in their own right. Janet could never have had a more successful career if it wasn’t for them.

  18. LJdaentertainer says:

Andre and Prince were childhood friends.

  19. clebrane says:

I wanna make that synth sound!!!

  20. Bigmommi1 says:

  21. ESSENCEOFEACHTHING says:

  22. phunkidruma says:

  24. TheFunRaizer says:

Little Do Most Of You Know, Mr. Cymone Was A Very Important Part Of PRINCE’s Career… And If You Notice Similarities Between The Two It’s Because Of How Close They Were Growing Up. If Money Wasn’t The Root Of All Evil There would’ve been alot more work Between The 2 Of Them… Footnote,He’s Also Worked With Tom Jones, Pebbles And Teddy Riley Amongst MANY Other Behind The Scenes Projects. I Hear A Documentary Is In The Works, Time Will Tell.

  25. jaytee586 says:

minneapolis sound, first thing i heard when i touched down from Cali in 82” classic cut

  26. 71brighteyes says:

Finally, one of my faves from Andre is posted. Thanks for putting this up.

  27. BluntedBeyondBelief says:

    dis is fonky

  28. dentistsugardusty says:

used to love seein’ Alexander O’neal play this before he hooked up with Jimmy & Terry

  29. johnbambammorgan says:

Wrong LP cover for this song. Although i do appreciate it, I’m the drummer on this cover but not this song.

  30. KaptanSoloToo says:

yeah…I was just thinking the same thing…this is from “Livin’ in the New Wave” 1982.
This is the “Survivin in the 80s” cover.

  31. vaniti06 says:

This is great, but I really wanted to hear “Survivin in the 80′s.” I used to own that… :)

  32. Laffington says:

why can’t you buy any of Cymone’s stuff on itunes? I mean — his solo work.

  33. rokhamdagamer81 says:

He look like the jeri curl version of Ginuwine.

  34. sarahconner11 says:

The synths sound wickedly cool. I like the Space suits^v

  35. Laffington says:

Why won’t Cymone re-release his stuff? Update it and either sing it himself or get a contemporary artist to do it? Its money waiting to be made…

  36. luvsexy3 says:

    love it

  37. Cosmictalk says:

Prince is in the back ground in the smog.

  38. dukejah says:

Man, talk about a classic. I have always loved the Minneapolis Sound. If only i could get tracks from “The Girls”. So hard to find, anyway, Andre, Prince, Morris, Jesse Johnson, The Time, Alexander Oneal, Vanity (Apollonia 6) and the list goes on. Those were the days…………..

  39. girl89kn says:

I’m lovin’ these AC tracks! Although I couldn’t help to think that this song in particular reminds me of Cameo’s “Shake Your Pants”…it’s probably the music arrangement (ex: bass). Lol, it’s awesome and thanks for posting Olku56 :)

  40. memphis03 says:

    What Da FuNk!

  41. GazzTheFunkadelic says:

Having spent years (and alot of cash) tracking down the vast majority of the Minneapolis Sound Lp’s through out the 80′s, 90′s and beyond, I’ve just aquired this Lp by Andre Cymone at last…and It’s a belter. It’s so good to see that, thanks to YouTube, there’s still a following for this sound to this day.

  42. SouloSwang says:

they dont make sound like this no more
