I’m guessing “purple rain” is a metaphor for hapiness. He was in a relationship and he wanted everything to be roses and sunshine and happy, but it didn’t turn out like that. He just wanted to see her in the “purple rain” -showered in hapiness!

When i was a teen—Prince was hot. I think he represents a adrogenous look and a hot sensitivity to men. His music is soulful and rockin’ and started an R&B rhythmy pop—and although my music tastes have evolved —from classical to rock and alternative—i still have the old jams when i want to go back—and yes he still rocks and is still sexy!
